I have quite a bit of work already done on the traction engine, and hope
this year to have her assembled onto all 4 wheels. The paint work is not
up to standard and I am very disappointed about this. Even more so as
I consider this one skill I have already gained previously.

However trying to purchase cellulose paint is very, very, difficult and
enamel is very expensive in the quantities I need. So I will need to
consider what I do for the future.

Not all the work is my own. I bought the Fowler some 5 or 6 years ago
with a lot of the castings bought, wheels made and the gears cut.
However I have done quite a bit, and since I have not had access to a
workshop until very recently, am not to disheartened over the time 'lost'.
Indeed I am looking forward over the coming months to make
considerable progress as there is much that can be assembled.

I did say I like a 'few' projects on the go and this is my big one. In some
ways I am in no hurry because I enjoy the building more than running it,
so other than seeing it in steam and finished, I more than likely will sell
her to fund something else. (I would really really like a 6" scale traction
engine but not only is that a lot of money, it is also heavy work).

So bookmark this page if you like and come back and see what
progress I am making, but it won't be something that progresses as fast
as some others.
