About me

History.

I am a retired UK Fire Officer (2002) now turned Model Engineer. Prior to the Fire Service I ran my own catering business in Devon. I served at all ranks up to and including Chief Fire Officer (Bedfordshire and Luton Fire and Rescue Service). Serving firstly in Devon, then the West Midlands, a 3 year secondment to the Home Office, South Wales and finally Bedfordshire and Luton Fire and Rescue Service.

On leaving school worked as a trainee mechanic. This is where my interest in all things practical came from. I left school at 15 with no academic qualifications whatsoever. I put that right when joining the Fire and Rescue Service. Firstly with the Open University and then an MSc from Aston University Business school.

Model Engineering began on retirement and am self taught. My interests also revolve around electronics and am studying a course at the present time via UDEMY. This is a web based service, acting as host to many different lecturers and subjects. It is well worth a visit.

Present.

My time now is taken up with Hospital visits, (don’t ask!) supplying toys and other projects to my wonderful Grandchildren (3 girls and one boy). They are the love of my life. At the moment I am trying to finish a Postman Pat style ride in van. This is powered by a mobility scooter engine (24v) with quite a few electrical features, such as Front and rear distance sensors, indicators, head lights, reversing lights to name but a few. Other projects, on hold, include a 2″ scale Fowler Traction Engine using the MJ Engineering castings set and a pair of Edgar Westbury Seal engines. All  awaiting the completion of the van project.

I also have two Jaguars. A classic Mk2 340 and a more modern XJ Sovereign. Oh, and a wife …… known as SWMBO (she who must be obeyed!).

I hope you enjoy my website. Please allow a little time for me to reinstate the many lost pages of content!
