Hi Mike, It’s been a couple of years since I wrote to you but I did lose your writings when I changed computers but recently found your stuff that I had printed out. I did wonder how you made out with your spine. I, too, have been in the hospital for an operation on my spine up near my neck. I was in hospital for two weeks and fell in love with 26 of the 28 nurses I had look after me. Two were male nurses. Unfortunately, I now have weakness in my legs and numbness in the soles of my feet so they want to operate on my lower spine. At the age of 85, I am not sure that I want to go through all that again but I also don’t want to have to buy a wheelchair either. I have stuck together some plywood on some saw horses to make a sort of sit-down bench that I can work at.. I was given six old woodworking planes that were very rusty and the irons chipped so that the man who gave me them thought that they weren’t worth putting in his garage sale before he moved off our island.. I have had a wonderful time restoring them and making them look like new and cutting paper thin shavings from wood. I have given some away to friends because I have many of my own. The joy was in restoring them. I hope all is going well after your surgery. Wish me luck with mine. All the best, Roy
