Started today to put the front of the engine together by riveting
the smoke box to the boiler but using rivet headed screws. Once
this was completed I turned to the chimney base casting which is
secured to the smoke box by proper rivets this time. It was a
difficult process due to the small area in which to strike the rivet.
However persistence paid off (once I worked out a better way of
riveting!)

Finally I started on securing the bracket that will hold the front
axle, to the underside of the smoke box, again by rivet headed
bolts. The next stage will be to fit the front axle and smoke box
door.
