When purchasing my Fowler, it was part made, and one of the items that had been machined already was the cylinder block. The owner was very truthful and explained that when drilling the passageway's to the valve chest, one went astray but had been plugged. He also suggested that there could be a slight loss of power as a result, although he would be happy to use it as it was. I felt that with my skill levels at that time I would go with his suggestion and use his block. I hope it is not false hope but I feel that whilst I would not tackle it straight away, I am gaining experience since having my workshop established and will tackle the new block. Time will tell, but I will document the machining on the fowler page over the coming months or years! For now though, I will place on here are a few pictures of both the new casting (purchased at the Harrogate model engineering show, 2008)and the previous owner's machined castings. |
