At last I have been able to
get back into the
workshop and do some
work on my projects.

The cylinder head went
relatively well even though
the one here is the second
attempt.

The reason for the second
attempt was due to the
shape of the boring tool
not allowing me to get
enough thread inside the
cylinder head. Once I
worked out the problem it
was just a matter of
'adjusting' the shape of the
tool.
The procedure for making the cylinder head was well described by Ron Chernich.
After chucking the 1" dia bar it was centre drilled and opened out until a 1/2" end
mill was used to give a flat bottomed hole.

The next task was to cut the internal threads to match the cylinder liner. Ron
suggests that the hole it tapped to suit the compression screw whilst still centered in
the chuck.

I was a little aprehensive about the fins but in fact when it came to it I found the
task most enjoyable. Whether I would have felt that way if I did not have DRO's
(digital readouts) I am not so sure. In the end it all went bye quite quickly.

The next two tasks will be the con rod and the crankshaft.... both of which I am
looking forward too. However the cylinder head is now complete.
